Amanda Palmer offers blanket denial of sex trafficking allegations

Amanda Palmer has denied the allegations laid out in a sex trafficking lawsuit filed by a former nanny against herself and her ex-husband, Neil Gaiman. In her first public remarks since mid-January, when she offered no comments due to ongoing custody and divorce proceedings with Gaiman, Palmer posted a brief comment on Instagram yesterday. While she could not comment on specifics, Palmer rejected the allegations and thanked her followers for respecting her and her son’s privacy, promising to “respond in due course.”

“I thank you all deeply for continuing to respect my recent request for privacy as I navigate this extremely difficult moment,” Palmer wrote. “I must protect my young child and his right to privacy. With that as my priority, I will not respond to the specific allegations being made against me except to say that I deny the allegations and will respond in due course.”

“My heart goes out to all survivors.”

Last week, Palmer and Gaiman were sued by Scarlett Pavlovich, a former nanny who accused the beleaguered writer of sexual assault last year. Her allegations first appeared in the investigative podcast Master, released in July 2024, and later in an extensive report by New York. Pavlovich didn’t accuse Palmer of assault but negligence, trafficking, and conspiracy to traffic. She claims Palmer knew Gaiman had a history of sexually aggressive behavior and took advantage of the 22-year-old woman’s precarious financial situation, mental instability, and lower social standing to “knowingly” recruit Pavlovich and transport her around the world, “recklessly” disregarding that she could become one of Gaiman’s victims.

Previously, Palmer offered a “no comment” toward the allegations when they were published in New York. Like Gaiman, she was also regarded as a fiercely feminist artist and outspoken supporter of victims of sexual abuse.
