Amazon will let you know what months its new shows are debuting—and that’s it

Get used to the still image above of Gael García Bael, because it’s all you’ll be seeing of Amazon’s Mozart In The Jungle until an unspecified December date. That show, along with fellow freshman series Transparent, The After, and Bosch (and returning comedy Alpha House) were presented to the Television Critics Association today, with Amazon Studios mimicking its online-retailing parent company by promising to deliver the new series in three to five business months. Prior to Mozart In The Jungle, all 10 episodes of Jill Soloway’s Transparent will premiere in “late September,” with The After and Bosch following in 2015.

Amazon frequently left critics hanging in its debut at the TCAs, where reps for the studio deflected questions about viewership numbers with Netflix-like precision and The After creator Chris Carter ended his long, post-X-Files hiatus from not speaking in specifics about his television projects. According to Carter, any of the following might be true about The After: It could run for 99 episodes, it could borrow thematic material from Dante’s Inferno, or it could open the gate to the secret eighth and ninth seasons of The Shield Carter reportedly watched during his creative sabbatical. Still, one thing’s for certain: You’ll be able to watch all of Amazon’s next round of pilots—including the Steven Soderbergh-produced Red Oaks and Whit Stillman’s The Cosmopolitans—before any more episodes of The After arrive.
