AMC offers first look at The Terror's return

While there are many daily terrors, there’s only one The Terror, and it’s been some time since it was last on TV. The first season, titled just The Terror, ran in early 2018 while season two, The Terror: Infamy, ran in 2019. Now, The Terror: Devil In Silver, starring Dan Stevens, Judith Light, CCH Pounder, Aasif Mandvi, and more, will premiere in May.

Stevens stars as Pepper, “a working-class moving man who, through a combination of bad luck and a bad temper, finds himself wrongfully committed to New Hyde Psychiatric Hospital – an institution filled with those society would rather forget,” according to an official synopsis. “There, he must contend with patients working against him, doctors harboring grim secrets, and perhaps even the Devil himself. As Pepper navigates a hellscape where nothing is as it seems, he finds that the only path to freedom is to face the entity which thrives on the suffering within New Hyde’s walls – but doing so may prove that the worst demons of all live inside him.”

It’s not immediately clear when precisely Devil In Silver takes place, but it looks decidedly more modern than the previous two outings, which took place in the 1840s and 1940s. The new entry into the Terror anthology was announced back in 2024 after the series spent some five years in limbo. The six-episode season will premiere with one episode on AMC+ on May 7, with new episodes arriving weekly after that. The season will also run on AMC later this year. John Benjamin Hickey, Stephen Root, Michael Aronov, Marin Ireland, Chinaza Uche, Hampton Fluker, b, Hayward Leach, and Philip Ettinger will also round out the cast.
