American Horror Story could sprout two more heads
Like the mythical Hydra who guarded the entrance to Hades at the lake of Lerna, Ryan Murphy’s American Horror Story has proven nigh unkillable. Critics have valiantly attempted to cut off the heads of the beast with stinging prose and evil clown jokes, only to see crime-based spinoffs and watered-down network versions of the show sprout up in their place. And now Murphy is threatening to push America’s pop-culture commentators to their physical and mental limits by teasing two seasons of the show in 2016.
Entertainment Weekly reports this startling development, quoting Murphy as saying, “Next year we might do a fall American Horror Story and a spring. We have to decide.” He also says that he’s taking a Transformers approach to upcoming seasons, assembling two writers’ rooms and having them work in shifts. “The next thing we’re crafting up is very, very different than this. Not smaller. But just not opulent. More rogue and more dark,” he promises, because he can’t very well say, “We’re stretching our resources pretty thin, so keep your expectations low.”
American Horror Story: Hotel premieres on October 13, 2015, followed, presumably, by American Horror Story: Blood Prom, American Horror Story: Flashlight Under Chin, and American Horror Story: Weird Dude In A Cape Dropping Raw Meat.
