An ungrateful Donald Trump is still annoyed by SNL
Like a spoiled child living in a golden Manhattan penthouse who just got everything he ever wanted and is still being a dick to his parents on Christmas morning, Donald Trump has once again decided to go on Twitter and complain about Saturday Night Live being mean to him. He first started to catch on that the venerated sketch comedy institution was making fun of him back in October, tweeting that it was “time to retire the boring and unfunny show,” that Alec Baldwin’s portrayal of him “stinks,” and that the media was “rigging election.” This came about a year after SNL actually let Trump host an episode, laying the groundwork for the way the media—and specifically NBC—would continue normalize his outrageous and offensive behavior right up until he got elected. So, in a way, he actually had a pretty good handle on the situation.
Now, with Baldwin’s Trump returning to SNL last night, the real Trump decided he’d give the show another chance. Unsurprisingly, he’s still not a fan:
Again, this is a totally one-sided, biased show that allowed him to host an episode last year. As for his other point about “equal time,” he’s presumably referring to a rule during the primaries that demands TV networks provide equal coverage to political candidates, which let Ted Cruz and whoever the other GOP losers were get some free ad time in certain markets after Trump hosted SNL. As Alec Baldwin himself pointed out on Twitter, though, the equal time rule isn’t in effect outside of the primaries, thanks to a thing called the First Amendment that Trump is going to become very familiar with over the next four years. Baldwin’s grammatically bizarre tweet also added, “Now u try 2 b Pres + ppl respond. That’s pretty much it.”
Just yesterday, Trump spent a significant chunk of his Saturday complaining about Hamilton, so he’s clearly taking this job running the country very seriously.
