Angela Lansbury is ever just as sure singing “Beauty And The Beast” live

Angela Lansbury is 90 years old. Let that remarkable fact sink in as you watch this lovely performance she gave last night at a 25th anniversary screening of Beauty And The Beast. Lansbury sang the title number, naturally, with composer Alan Menken accompanying her on piano. It’s as achingly beautiful as it sounds on the recording made all those years ago. ABC News has video.

Beauty And The Beast was released in November of 1991, but first debuted as a work-in-progress at the New York Film Festival in September of that year. According to E!, the event at Alice Tully Hall Sunday also featured a discussion with Lansbury and other cast members including Paige O’Hara (Belle) and Robby Benson (The Beast) and a medley of Disney tunes from Menken.
