Anna Kendrick to voice a troll doll, probably buy a vacation house afterwards
In a development that has taken nearly four years to happen—probably because it’s a ridiculous idea—DreamWorks Animation has finally found the lead for its animated Troll movie—based on the ‘90s phenomenon, not embittered Internet commenters—that we told you about back in 2010.
According to Variety, Anna Kendrick will be the voice of “relentlessly upbeat” Troll princess Poppy, a role that will finally give her something to talk to Katy Perry about at parties. Trolls director Mike Mitchell (who, for the record, also directed Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo and Alvin And The Chipmunks: Chipwrecked) says that Kendrick will “inject Poppy with the exact mix of spirit, sass, and song that will no doubt give a whole new life to the iconic Troll dolls,” presumably adding that he’s getting a percentage of the merchandising so she better damn well breathe new life into the ugly little things. Barring an act of God, Trolls will hit theaters on November 4, 2016.
