When Greg Kinear has a fire plague started by a band of arsonists on his hands, he knows who to call. In Smoke, the new arson-based crime thriller miniseries from Apple TV+, Taron Egerton and Jurnee Smollett to stop a string of deadly fires that have engulfed one of the country’s rainiest areas, the Pacific Northwest. However, Egerton, who apparently uses the same dialect coach as Robert Pattinson in Mickey 17, might be the man lighting the fuse. At least that’s how the trailer frames it. Set to the dulcet tones of Thom Yorke’s twinkly techno theme, now available on Apple Music, the trailer burns through the plot and central tension of the nine-episode series: Can Smollett trust Egerton? More importantly, how much Greg Kinnear are we getting in this series?

Here’s the official synopsis:

Created and written by Dennis Lehane and inspired by true events, “Smoke” follows an arson investigator who begrudgingly teams up with a police detective as their race to stop two arsonists ignites a twisted game of secrets and suspicions.

The trailer also serves as the debut of the new song from Thom Yorke, “Dialing In,” the show’s theme song. “Dialing In” isn’t a new song to Yorkies; the Radiohead singer has been performing it live under the title “Gawper.” Deezer subscribers, as well as Tidal, YouTube Music, Spotify, and Apple Music Subscribers, can hear the song here.

Apple TV+ will premiere the first two episodes of Smoke on June 27, with new episodes streaming weekly through August 15.
