Apple's streaming service could launch as early as April, may have shows from HBO and Starz

The dark days of only being able to refer to Apple’s streaming service in annoyingly vague terms may actually be coming to an end relatively soon, as Rolling Stone reports that The Information has heard from entertainment industry sources that Apple is planning to launch the service “in mid-April.” We’ve spent years hearing about the various projects Apple has in development for the still-unnamed service, including stuff from high-profile content creators like Jennifer Aniston, M. Night Shyamalan, Damien Chazelle, and Steven Spielberg, but this is the first time we’ve heard any information—rumor or otherwise—about when the streaming thing might launch.

The Information also believes that the many, many originals that Apple has in development won’t even be the only offerings on the service, as insiders say that it might also feature selected content from other outlets like Starz and HBO as well. Plus, some of the shows available on the platform will apparently be available for free, which is something that most of the competing streamers don’t offer at all. Luckily, April is pretty soon, so we should be hearing some actual news about this fairly soon (if it’s at all true).
