Ariana Madix to lead Housewives in space

“In the decadent asteroid colony of New Beverly Hills, wealthy socialites juggle bioengineered beauty regimens, ruthless rivalries and interplanetary scandals,” reads an official logline, per Variety. “But when a young, starry-eyed outsider unexpectedly upends their glamorous world, it exposes just how far they’ve drifted out of touch in a society evolving beyond superficiality in this sharply satirical yet surprisingly heartfelt reinvention of reality TV.” The series is written by frequent Star Trek contributor Brandon Braga and counts Seth MacFarlane as an executive producer. 

There seem to be an increasing number of Housewives parodies and satires in recent years. Besides Future Housewives, Jennifer Lawrence is set to produce and star in The Wives, a murder mystery expected to come to Apple TV. Julio Torres’ series Fantasmas also mined the genre to pretty awesome effect with a sketch starring Emma Stone, Cole Escola, Rachel Dratch, and Rosie Perez. Madix has an advantage of seeing how the sausage actually gets made, but safe to say this space is getting fairly full.
