Armie Hammer joins the list of celebrities whose lives are becoming semi-autobiographical sitcoms
Comedians have been turning their lives into sitcoms since the beginning of time—the very first ones were presented on rock walls and depended on laugh tracks a little too heavily—but only the biggest and best non-comedian celebrities can pull the same thing off. We’re talking Adam Levine, we’re talking Rivers Cuomo, and you better believe we’re talking Carson Daly. Now, as reported by Deadline, The Lone Ranger’s Armie Hammer has finally reached that Carson Daly level of fame and will be producing his own semi-autobiographical sitcom.
Rather than being a sitcom about an actor who was in a terrible Johnny Depp movie and doesn’t actually have an identical twin, the show will focus on a guy whose “world is rocked” when he discovers that his parents have become friends with his ex-girlfriend, and then he becomes friends with the ex-girlfriend’s fiancé. We assume the show will be called Everyone Becomes Friends With Everyone Else. There’s a twist, though: Hammer isn’t the guy, he’s the fiancé. The guy is Invincible producer Gordon Gray. That makes Hammer a supporting character in his own semi-autobiographical sitcom, which is certainly a bold choice. About A Boy’s David Israel is writing the script, and he’s developing the series with Hammer for NBC.
Anyway, here are some other titles the show could use: It’s A Little Weird But Let’s Just All Be Friends, My Parents Are In A Bizarre Non-Sexual Relationship With My Ex-Girlfriend, It’s Armie Hammer Time, An Armie Of One, The Gordon Gray Show (Starring Armie Hammer), Don’t Trust The Armie Hammer In Apartment 23, and $#*! My Armie Hammer Says. All of those are pretty good.
