Disney still can't get its Muppet act together
After scoring a handful of Emmy nods and wins, there’s been little talk about continuing The Muppet Show at Disney.

Sorry for the false alarm. Apparently, it’s still not time to play the music, light the lights, or meet the Muppets on The Muppet Show tonight or any other night for the foreseeable future. Despite being the Mouse House’s most nominated and winning show of the year, the behemoth movie studio that’s letting the Russo brothers make the most expensive Avengers movie ever without a script still doesn’t know what to do with The Muppets. Earlier this year, Disney scored massive viewership and industry-wide acclaim with a Seth Rogen and Sabrina Carpenter-led Muppet Show special. In the special, Kermit himself, the leader of the Muppets, noted more performances could be on the horizon, depending on how that show went. The proof is in the pudding: The show brought in nearly eight million viewers to broadcast television to watch the meeting of Ms. Piggy and Ms. Carpenter, which was delightful. Months later, the special became Disney’s most-nominated Emmy contender of the year. It already won four Emmys.
