Keira Knightley is back in action as a spy-for-hire in Black Doves season 2 trailer

Keira Knightley’s Black Doves character is fighting for her life, literally, in the new trailer for season two. After the Christmastime escapades in season one, Helen Webb is back and barely managing to keep her personal life together as her husband, Wallace Webb (Andrew Buchan), prepares to become the new Prime Minister and develops growing (and valid) trust issues. The stakes are high, the secret about Helen’s work as a spy is threatening to come out, and, as one character succinctly puts it, “If Webb’s cover gets blown, that’s us done.”

The official synopsis reads: 

“As Helen’s enigmatic handler, Mrs Reed (Sarah Lancashire) is ensnared in a ruthless plot to undermine her position in the Black Doves, Helen is reunited with her best friend, Sam (Ben Whishaw). The once high-end triggerman is now reduced to lonely drinks in Soho bars and low-rate hits. As they search for answers, loyalties are weaponized, trust is shattered, and the fight to protect the people they love could cost everything. With all the explosive wit of Series 1, Helen and Sam’s mission leads them back to old friends and enemies, through the dark decisions and painful sacrifices of their pasts, and right to the heart of the Black Doves.”

The new season also introduces new characters, like a US defense envoy named Cecile Mason, played by ultimate final girl Neve Campbell, and a kick-ass Black Doves agent named Laila, played by Ambika Mod, in a refreshing change from her heartbreaking performance in Netflix’s 2024 tear-jerker One Day. “Oh good, another addition to the psychotic girl gang,’ Ben Whishaw’s Sam deadpans. The six-episode second season of Black Doves premieres on Netflix on November 5. You can watch the trailer below.
