Bruce Campbell says he has five years to live, "give or take"
In March, the iconic Evil Dead star shared he has been diagnosed with cancer.

After disclosing his cancer diagnosis earlier this year, Bruce Campbell has elaborated on just how serious his diagnosis is on a recent episode of The Adam Carolla Show. Fans of the actor may want to brace themselves. According to Campbell, he has five years to live, “give or take.”
Campbell has death on his mind, not only because of his recent diagnosis, but ironically, his new film Ernie & Emma, which he wrote, directed, and stars in, follows a widower (Campbell) spreading his wife’s ashes. So the Evil Dead star tells Carolla about the experience of his grandfather’s passing, which inspired him to invite his kids to watch his own father’s death in hospice. “It was a beautiful exit,” he says. “None of it disturbed them in any way.” It’s a rather graceful way of looking at this painful experience that, as Campbell points out, many people don’t want to confront. This prompted Carolla—and we promise not to spend too much time on this—to bring up that, like death, “a lot of the pedophilia stuff gets by because people don’t want to think about it.” The host then name-checked Penn State, Jerry Sandusky, and Joe Paterno. Anyway, Campbell steers the interview back on the road to discuss finding humor in the Bryan Johnsons of the world who try to cheat death. “You’re not really living,” Campbell said. “You just have a new hobby that you’re obsessed with. What is the quality of these extra years?” This jogs something in Carolla’s mind, and he asks, “Didn’t you have a health scare some time ago?”
