Bryan Cranston—the cream in your coffee, the salt in your stew—is in talks to add his inimitable Cranston spice to the cast of Argo, Ben Affleck’s film about Ben Affleck saving the day during the 1979 Iran hostage crisis. Cranston will play Affleck’s boss, an Irish CIA agent from the streets of Ben Affleck’s Boston who helps orchestrate the ruse of staging a fake Hollywood production to rescue several kidnapped diplomats. Presumably, Cranston will also join in Ben Affleck’s grand experiment of holing up with the rest of the cast in a “safe house” in order to recreate the tense and claustrophobic conditions of being held captive. That means there will be a two-week slumber party involving Ben Affleck, Alan Arkin, John Goodman, and now Bryan Cranston—late-night sessions talking about girls, sharing their deepest fears, putting Alan Arkin’s hand in warm water so he pees himself, that sort of thing.
