While life changes are hard to accept for kids (or, heck, anyone!), Erica Rivinoja and Alessandro Carloni’s new take on Dr. Seuss’ enduring The Cat In The Hat story features a heck of a life coach: A talking cat voiced by Bill Hader who can guide everyone through life’s many unfun changes. In this new trailer released by Warner Bros., the eponymous Cat is dispatched by the I.I.I.I. (Institute for the Institution of Imagination and Inspiration, LLC) to cheer up latchkey siblings Gabby (Xochitl Gomez) and Sebastian (Tiago Martinez), who are bummed by their recent move to a new town. (America Ferrera voices their single mom.) Set to emotionally soaring, bass-thumping music, the trailer promises several colorful set pieces and a kind-hearted, tear-jerking message designed to remind us all that, yeah, moving house can be a real pain in the feels. Also, Matt Berry voices the storybook’s Fish, who is here Cat-granted the ability to protest against being made into a fish taco or a plate of sushi by the Cat’s Things, who do look very hungry. Giancarlo Esposito, Bowen Yang, Paula Pell, and Tituss Burgess also co-star.
