Ensuring that we can go on making jokes about unremarkable Matt Damon movies with ridiculous titles for at least another year, CBS has announced that it’s renewed its “animal uprising” series Zoo for a second season. The show, which stars James Wolk, Kristen Connolly, and Nonso Anozie, centers on a team of skilled professionals attempting to stop humanity from getting wiped out by suddenly murderous cetes of badgers, marauding gangs of elk, and rampaging sleuths of bears. (The previous sentence was brought to you by us just finding out that a group of bears is called a “sleuth.” Thanks, Zoo!)
The series was the highest rated of CBS’s “Summer dramas where a lot of crazy nonsense happens” trio, whose other members, Under The Dome and Extant, are facing less happy fates. Dome has already been canceled, freeing Dean Norris from its semicircular tyranny, and Extant’s status is still unknown. But Zoo—based off a novel by James Patterson and Michael Ledwidge—is still going strong, which means we might finally reach the moment we’ve all been waiting for, when heroic zoologist Jackson Oz (Wolk) sees his own last name in a mirror, and realizes he’s been the zoo the entire time.
