CBS is making a Nancy Drew series
According to Deadline, CBS has begun development on a new drama series based on the adventures of classic amateur detective Nancy Drew. Grey’s Anatomy executive producers Joan Rater and Tony Phelan will co-write and co-executive produce the series, which will reportedly be a “contemporary take” on Nancy Drew. We’d give you a chance to guess what that “contemporary take” will be, but we’re pretty sure it’s so obvious that guessing at all is unnecessary: She’s now a detective with the NYPD, “where she investigates and solves crimes using her uncanny observational skills, all while navigating the complexities of life in a modern world.” Deadline doesn’t use the word “procedural,” but you don’t have to be a plucky teen detective to figure out that it’s absolutely going to be a standard procedural that just so happens to be about a girl named Nancy Drew.
