This New Year’s Eve, instead of enduring aggravating crowds, you can cue up YouTube and celebrate with a stoic Nick Offerman as he sits calmly for an hour and drinks whisky. The video is a follow-up to “Nick Offerman’s Yule Log,” which had the Parks And Recreation star in front of a fireplace, and operates on that same, simple concept. Revelers on Scotland’s Isle Of Islay party behind him, but Offerman is content with his liquor and solitude. It’s appropriately entrancing.

“I never make New Year’s resolutions because I apply myself to every day of the year in a fashion that can only be described as ‘resolute,’” Offerman said in a statement. “Because I am not a fool, my determined recipe for delicious living naturally involves a responsible savoring of Lagavulin.” Like his “Yule Log,” this is part of the My Tales Of Whisky series that Offerman makes in conjunction with Lagavulin. So, yes, it is essentially an advertisement, but just try and not be charmed.
