Charlie Hunnam thinks kissing scenes are gross

Please know this: Much of the footage featured in this Sons Of Anarchy fan video was probably deeply unenjoyable for Charlie Hunnam, and Fifty Shades Of Grey would have been a real fucking drag if he had ended up starring in it. That’s because, as he revealed in an interview with Elle, he isn’t a fan of sex and/or kissing scenes due to being “profoundly germophobic.” So basically, he’s happy kissing his girlfriend and pretty much no one else. To elaborate on this fear, he told a traumatic story about a parasite that was going around when he was a youngster.

When I was maybe eight or nine, there was a parasite from dogs in the north of England that, if you ingested it, could turn you blind. We had a thing in schools to educate the kids about the importance of hygiene, specifically around dogs, because we had a few kids who went blind. That horrified me. The point is, everyone thinks it’s great to be an actor and get to kiss a bunch of beautiful actresses in films, but I actually hate it.

It’s fair to say that Hunnam is, at least in part, known for his willingness to do graphic sex scenes, stemming back from his days on the British Queer As Folk. Even though he dropped out of Fifty Shades, he gave the world an ample supply of, uh, sensual GIFs thanks to his time as Jax Teller on SOA. Asked by Elle whether he “ever feel[s] objectified,” he responded: “Not at all.”
