Chicago, see The Happytime Murders' drugged-up puppets early and for free

Brian Henson’s The Happytime Murders has been building up an undeniable buzz of late, if for no other reason than the way it allows poor, creatively stifled headline writers to get away with slipping phrases like “puppet jizz” into their work. Starring Melissa McCarthy, puppeteer Bill Barretta (also the voice of The Muppets’ Pepe The Prawn), Elizabeth Banks, Joel McHale, and more, the film is positioning itself as a Meet The Feebles for the modern generation, a vulgar, felt-soaked exercise in noir-ish excess.

And if that sounds right up your puppet-banging alley, you’re in luck (if you live in Chicago, at least). We’re offering free passes to an advance screening of the film, scheduled at the Showplace ICON at Roosevelt Collection on Wednesday, August 22 at 7 p.m. All you have to do to get your tickets is head over here and click the provided link. Be sure to get there early, though; these advance screenings always overbook, so this one will probably be as jam-packed as [hideous puppet-sex simile deleted for drastically exceeding the bounds of good taste].

The Happytime Murders debuts nationwide on August 24.
