Chicago, win tickets to see Charlotte Rampling in 45 Years for free
For this year’s Academy Awards, the Best Actress slate doesn’t look too different from any other year: There’s the buzzed-about indie darlings (Brie Larson, Saoirse Ronan) and the perennial favorites (Jennifer Lawrence, Cate Blanchett). Considering that, the year’s most surprising (though certainly no less deserving) nominees is Charlotte Rampling. An iconic actress, Rampling is receiving the first Oscar nod of her 50-year career, for her role as one half of a married couple on the verge of falling apart in director Andrew Haigh’s haunting 45 Years. Our own A.A. Dowd called the film “a sharp portrait of young love,” singling out Rampling’s work as “the greatest performance of a great career.”
