There’s about to be one less chicken-based unscripted web talk show. Amelia Dimoldenberg, creator and host of the series Chicken Shop Date, announced on Instagram this morning that she’s about ready to move on to dessert. In her post, Dimoldenberg acknowledges that the idea for the series—which is basically what it sounds like—came to her when she was 17 and has since spent the majority of her twenties working on it, eating chicken with everyone from Elmo and Cher to Sabrina Carpenter and Paul McCartney. She developed an especially good rapport with Andrew Garfield, and even met her American chicken show tether, Sean Evans of Hot Ones. But, alas, every date must come to an end.
“To me the show is my very own romcom and I have loved creating so many stories for you to watch. I am so grateful to everyone who has followed me on this journey and found some joy in these episodes,” Dimoldenberg writes on Instagram. “I never thought I’d stop Chicken Shop Date, I thought maybe it would be a part of me forever, and in some way it always will, but I feel like it’s now time to move on from this adventure and onto a new one.” Dimoldenberg says she does have a few final dates coming up, though she doesn’t specify when or with whom. Given some of the names we just listed, it’s going to be hard for her to top herself short of a major world leader or, like, Beyoncé.
That all being said, Chicken Shop Date seems to have already served its purpose for Dimoldenberg’s career. She’s served as a red carpet correspondent at the Oscars for a few ceremonies already, and distinguished herself as one of the least-obnoxious social media personalities-turned-red carpet personalities. She also got a cameo in The Devil Wears Prada 2, which we imagine is the kind of experience that makes one wonder how many more chicken shop dates they’ve got in the tank.
