Clown In A Cornfield shucks a bloody new trailer

Is there anything better than corn? From supplanting sugar for superior colas to poisoning our atmosphere through greenhouse gases, corn continues to prove itself the lifeblood of American ingenuity. One day, someone tells you that corn is real. The next thing you know, you’re trying it with butter and everything changes. But unfortunately, as laid out in the trailer for Clown In A Cornfield, all corn stories end the same way, with a vicious, ironic death at the hands of a murderous clown.

The upcoming horror film from Tucker & Dale Vs. Evil director Eli Craig, Clown In A Cornfield makes good on its premise. There is a clown in this cornfield, and he’s ready to kill. Based on the YA novel by Adam Cesare, the movie sees a town once heralded over its ability to take an ear of corn and turn it into liquid gold, e.g., corn syrup, fall into chaos when a newcomer awakens a killer clown after uploading a prank video to a website we’re going to assume is called CornHub.

Here’s the synopsis:

“Quinn and her father have just moved to the quiet town of Kettle Springs, hoping for a fresh start. Instead, she discovers a fractured community that has fallen on hard times after the treasured Baypen Corn Syrup Factory burned down. As the locals bicker amongst themselves and tensions boil over, a sinister, grinning figure emerges from the cornfields to cleanse the town of its burdens, one bloody victim at a time. Welcome to Kettle Springs. The real fun starts when Frendo the Clown comes out to play.”

Clown In A Cornfield opens on May 9.
