Cosby sweaters to be auctioned
Perhaps the most enduring image of The Cosby Show's run on NBC from 1984 to 1992 is the colorful assortment of sweaters worn by star Bill Cosby–so much so that "Cosby sweater" is now shorthand for "hideous woolen atrocity" (or, apparently, vomiting fruity cereal on a partner).
According to a story in the Chicago Tribune, Cosby found a batch of sweaters while cleaning out a closet recently. His daughter, Evin, took three of them to sell on eBay to raise money for the charity named after Cosby's son, Ennis, who was murdered in 1997.
Think it might make the perfect addition to your already-ironic wardrobe? Maybe. But that irony will set you back at least $5,000, the minimum bid for the sweaters when the auctions begin June 2. Don't worry; your nearest thrift store probably has loads of equally bad ones.
