Predator: Badlands' Dan Trachtenberg turns heat vision toward Sleeping Beauty

If it sleeps, he can kill it. Dan Trachtenberg, the man responsible for not one but two of the only good Predator sequels, is leaving the jungle for the Magic Kingdom. Per Deadline, Trachtenberg will direct an upcoming original idea inspired by Sleeping Beauty. That might feel like a stretch for a guy known for movies about murderous extraterrestrials and warriors/bots who love them, but it’s said to be an “entirely new direction with Trachtenberg’s distinct sensibility.” While we hope that means our tuckered-out princess will get a manibled kiss from a dreadlocked alien, Deadline reports it’s a new story concocted by Trachtenberg and TV writer Rayna McClendon, with the creators of Big Time In Hollywood Florida, Alex Anfanger and Dan Schimpf, on script duties. As of now, it doesn’t sound like this latest reimagining will be a part of the long-running Maleciverse, which has enjoyed a healthy two features: 2014’s Maleficent and 2019’s Maleficent: Mistress Of Evil. We don’t know what it is right now, but we wouldn’t rule out another surprise Cloverfield sequel.
