Danger Mouse has been too depressed about Trump for a Gnarls Barkley reunion
As reported by Pitchfork, Brian Burton—better known as Danger Mouse—appeared on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 radio show today and briefly touched on the possibility of reuniting with Cee Lo Green for another Gnarls Barkley album. He said that he and Green have “always been in touch” and that they’ve remained friends over the years since the last Gnarls Barkley album, so there’s “never not been a potential” for it to happen. Unfortunately, real-life seems to have intruded on Burton’s plans to get back together with Green, as he explains that the two of them last saw each other on November 7 of last year and made plans to hang out the next day, but as the election results started coming in, Burton found himself in no shape to meet up with his old friend. Instead, probably like a lot of us, he ended up “drinking heavily on a couch” all alone and “staring at the TV.”
The implication is that Burton and Green could’ve hashed out plans for new Gnarls Barkley music if things had turned out differently, but he still thinks it will happen eventually. As for Green, he might be too busy enjoying his new supervillain persona these days.
