Rockstar Games has released a new trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI, a short and sweet amuse-bouche rife with sunset vibes and sweaty action ahead of its hotly-anticipated November 19 launch. Clocking in at a svelte 1:30, this new clip peels back the veil of mystery surrounding its moody, deeply Arthur Morgan-coded co-protagonist, Jason Duval, with dark insinuations about Jason’s army past and how it might affect his rambunctious, romantic present. “I got in some trouble in the army,” he says in voiceover. “Didn’t leave on the best of terms.”
Captured on a PlayStation 5, the cutscene-heavy trailer presents Jason’s new post-army life just as his paramour, Lucia Caminos, comes roaring back into it. We see him working at a local marina in the Leonida Keys, stud-ily buffing out dents on the side of a boat, as he says, “They don’t give loans or anything to people like me.” Well, there are certainly other ways to make money in the great state of Leonida, we expect. Sure enough, following a fateful collect call from Lucia, the trailer kicks into overdrive, as Justice’s “Flower In A Hurricane” featuring Tame Impala and SZA (with King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard) crackles over Rockstar’s vivid, cracked-mirror presentation of American life.
