David S. Goyer’s Krypton prequel series is back on again at SyFy

Pretty much everyone agrees that the most interesting aspect of the Superman myth is the part about the hero’s doomed home planet of Krypton. You know, the one he barely escaped as an infant. From snooty, delusional leaders in flowing robes to plenty of futuristic-looking architecture, this place has everything a Superman fan could want—except Superman himself or any of his crime-fighting adventures. Who wouldn’t want to tune in each week to a serialized TV show about this fascinating place? And wouldn’t it be even better if the show were about, say, Superman’s relatively obscure grandfather? That’s what the executives at SyFy are banking on, apparently, since they’ve finalized a pilot order for Krypton, a series created by writer-producer David S. Goyer, who has penned pretty much every significant DC movie of the last decade, including Man Of Steel. The project has been in the works for some time, but it looks like it’s really going to happen now.
