He’s ba-a-ck—in the New York Groove, that is. After drinking the New Blood and committing the Original Sin, everybody’s favorite justice-seeking serial killer, Dexter Morgan (a returning Michael C. Hall), flees Miami for the Big Apple in the trailer for Dexter: Resurrection. In this latest revival of the long-running Emmy-winning series, Dexter finds himself among a murder of A-list serial killers, including Uma Thurman, Neil Patrick Harris, Krysten Ritter, Eric Stonestreet, and David Dastmalchian, assembled by the dastardly Leon Prater (Peter Dinklage).

Dexter: Resurrection, a continuation of Dexter: New Blood, takes place weeks after Dexter Morgan (Hall) takes a bullet to the chest from his own son, as he awakens from a coma to find Harrison (Jack Alcott) gone without a trace. Realizing the weight of what he put his son through, Dexter sets out for New York City determined to find him and make things right. But, closure won’t come easy. When Miami Metro’s Angel Batista (David Zayas) arrives with questions, Dexter realizes his past is catching up to him fast. As father and son navigate their own darkness in the city that never sleeps, they soon find themselves deeper than they ever imagined – and that the only way out is together.
Set to a stop-start, decelerated remix of Ace Frehley’s “Back In The New York Groove,” the trailer puts Michael C. Hall back in the Dexter groove, giving him a new host of killers to take out and a new setting to disappear into. With big stars, returning favorites, a macabre sense of humor, and Hall picking up the knife again, Dexter‘s ready to stab its way back into the heart of television once again.
The two-episode premiere of Dexter: Resurrection streams on Paramount+ with SHOWTIME on July 11 and airs SHOWTIME on July 13. New episodes premiere weekly.
