Yesterday, a tour bus carrying the The Dillinger Escape Plan in Poland was hit by a truck, sending 13 people to the hospital. Nobody in the band was seriously injured, but they still decided to cancel that night’s show in Krakow.
Now, Pitchfork is reporting that The Dillinger Escape Plan has canceled all of the remaining dates on its European tour, which was supposed to continue up through early March. In a statement, guitarist Benjamin Weinman explained that their gear has been destroyed and that “there are injuries,” so they can’t continue the tour as planned. The full statement is below:
All the gear is destroyed and there are injuries—we are unable to continue this tour right now. The band and crew would like to thank the fans and press around the world for their concern and the Polish police and medical staff for their handling of the situation. We hope to get back to Europe soon.
Pitchfork suggests that a handful of U.S. dates this April will still happen, but as far as we know, the band’s plan is still to break up once this tour is over.
