Dinosaur Jr., Jonathan Richman, and Ty Segall lead the 2017 Pickathon lineup
Though this year’s Pickathon festival in Oregon won’t have a fictional Flaming Lips feud, its actual musical acts should be at least as entertaining as that Portlandia gag. Held every year at Pendarvis Farm just outside of Portland, Pickathon prides itself on being an “alternative to the standard festival experience,” which at least partly comes from the fact that it’s all based around the exceedingly Portland-esque practices of camping in the woods, listening to cool bands, and eating locally sourced food.
According to a press release, this year’s acts were chosen based on “a spirit of inclusion,” and “close to 50 percent” of them include women. Highlights from the lineup include Dinosaur Jr., Deer Tick, Jonathan Richman, Pinegrove, Robyn Hitchcock, Ty Segall, Alex Cameron, Wolf People, A-WA, Black Milk & Nat Turner, Courtney Granger, Ex-Cult, Julia Jacklin, Mandolin Orange, Sunflower Bean, Y La Bamba, and J. Mascis. You can see the full lineup and get more information at the Pickathon website.
Pickathon 2017 will be held from August 3 to August 6, and tickets are available now at this link. You can see some footage from last year’s Pickathon in our series of videos here, here, and here.
