The ad-free premium plan will reportedly increase to $21.49 per month.

Disney Plus is raising prices yet again

The hits just keep on coming for Disney+ subscribers. Bloomberg reports that Disney is upping the costs of Disney+ and Hulu. The current Disney+ Premium plan previously cost $18.99 per month and includes no ads (though there is a caveat), high-quality sound, enhanced video quality, streaming on multiple devices at the same time, and downloads on up to 10 devices. Now, those benefits will cost an additional $2.50, bringing the monthly price up to $21.49. Hulu Premium will also increase to $21.49 per month, while the Disney+ and Hulu bundle will rise to $21.99. 

The new pricing puts Disney+ and Hulu in line with competitors like HBO Max and Netflix. It wouldn’t be surprising if streamers like Apple TV, Peacock, and Paramount Plus follow suit and hike their prices, whether in a matter of years or even months. The news of yet another cost increase comes after Disney+ users in Europe reportedly received new terms and conditions allowing ads to appear before and after playback to their ad-free premium subscription. So, ad-free is no longer totally ad-free over there. With streaming services regularly raising prices, it’s easy to see why people are making physical media trendy again or resorting to free streaming services like Tubi.
