Drunk History triumphantly stumbles back to YouTube

Waters, who serves as slightly less drunk Drunk History host in addition to co-creating the series with Jeremy Konner, said of the show’s return after some seven years asleep, “Drunk History has and will always be about informing the audience of History we may not have heard of but should have.” Adding that he’s excited to ply more funny storytellers with the booze of their choice, Waters told Deadline on Tuesday, “History used to be a thing of our past but it’s slowly becoming our future. We need to learn from our history but we also need to be laughing right now. We hope these new stories do both for our long awaited audience.”

The three new episodes will see Lisa Gilroy cover Madonna’s 1984 performance at the inaugural MTV Video Music Awards, Patton Oswalt take on Frances Perkins, unsung force behind the New Deal, and Marisha Ray try to remember the details of the two guys who competed to create the world’s biggest ball of twine. Reenactments will be handled by a typically all-star cast of straight-faced comics, including the likes of Steve Agee, Tim Baltz, Seth Green, Colin Hanks, Jack McBrayer, Chris Parnell, Johnny Pemberton, Daryl Sabara, Mae Whitman, and “Weird Al” Yankovic. 

No word yet on whether these three new episodes mean we’re getting another full season of Drunk History, although it’s best to open your textbooks and favorite adult beverage(s), just to be ready.
