Hey, wanna hear the most annoying sound in the world? It’s the drawn-out public speculation of a sequel to a 17-year-old film, extended over many months and a dozen press junkets, and involving little more than a few vague statements of intent to make it someday. “EHHHHHHHHHHHHH,” Peter and Bobby Farrelly have said, basically, about their proposed sequel to 1994’s Dumb And Dumber, and “EHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH,” Jim Carrey has echoed back. But today that prolonged screeching has taken on a slightly more purposeful edge as the Farrellys, having finally wrapped their Three Stooges And A Gaggle Of Nuns movie, are making a genuine move forward on tackling Dumb And Dumber 2 next. Or rather, a genuine, tangential, flick-of-the-wrist move, by saying they "hope” to direct it next and then hiring two other guys to write it—Sean Anders and John Morris, whose credits include Hot Tub Time Machine, Sex Drive, and the upcoming Adam Sandler comedy I Hate You Dad. In summation, EHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
