DVD/BD Release List – 03/23/10
It’s an absolutely colossal week for the home video business, highlighted by a slew of classic movies making their domestic Blu-ray debuts: The African Queen and Bigger Than Life (both reviewed in full here tomorrow), Criterion editions of Days Of Heaven, Yojimbo and Sanjuro (the latter two also available in a combo set), and Pixar’s first two Toy Storys. Also arriving in stores are a big batch of prestige-y 2009 titles, including the Oscar-winning The Blind Side, the melodrama Brothers, John Woo’s epic Red Cliff (in both its truncated and full international versions), the not-as-bad-as-you’ve-heard military comedy The Men Who Stare At Goats, and Wes Anderson’s very Wes Anderson-y animated feature Fantastic Mr. Fox. Fans of AMC’s original series will be well-served today too, with the arrival of the third season of Mad Men and the remake of The Prisoner. And rock ‘n’ soul buffs will want to check out the legendary 1964 concert film The T.A.M.I. Show (another review coming tomorrow), while horror buffs will want to check out the latest wave of “After Dark Horrorfest” movies (review coming… someday… if the discs ever arrive, that is).
