Edhochuli makes the most of a “Useless Muse” on new track

Pittsburgh’s Edhochuli is beholden to nothing. In the course of a single song it’s not uncommon for the band to jump from hardcore rushes to prog-rock interludes and stoner-metal grooves while making it all feel cohesive. It’s new EP, Dream Warriors, is set to be released on October 30 via A-F Records, the label owned by long-running Pittsburgh punk act Anti-Flag. Dream Warriors was produced by Anti-Flag bassist Chris #2, and while his presence didn’t inject any pop-punk into the mix, the record shows exactly why Edhochuli has been a favorite on the DIY touring circuit for the past few years. The A.V. Club is premiering “Useless Muse,” a song from Dream Warriors that jumps from riff to riff without ever losing track of its central groove or the band’s dedication to creating all-consuming walls of sound. It’s a testament to Edhochuli’s willingness to chase whatever muse it finds, even the useless ones.

Pre-orders for Dreams Warriors are available now through A-F Records.
