Ryan Murphy's series returns in September to depict yet another horrifying true-crime saga.

Ella Beatty takes center stage in the first teaser for Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story

Like it or not, Ryan Murphy and his production company sure know how to churn out TV shows swiftly. In 2026 alone, he’s already delivered FX’s The Beauty, Love Story, and the ongoing The Shards. He’s also got new seasons of American Horror Story, ABC’s 9-1-1, and Hulu’s All’s Fair left to go this year. And now, Netflix adds to it with the latest season of his awards-bait drama, Monster

Co-created by Murphy and frequent collaborator Ian Brennan, each season of Monster has centered on different true-crime figures: Jeffrey Dahmer, brothers Lyle and Erik Menendez, and Ed Gein. The latest season ventures further back in time to focus on Lizzie Borden, who was tried and acquitted of the axe murders of her father and stepmother in Massachusetts in 1892. And if the first teaser for Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story is any indication, there’s plenty of bloodshed, freakiness, and a killer ensemble in this one, too.

The official synopsis reads:

When the repressed daughter of a wealthy New England family and her rebellious maid find themselves trapped in a house built on humiliation and cruelty, they escape into a fantasy of sex, power, and revenge. The gruesome unsolved murders that follow don’t just shock the world—they give birth to an icon who refuses to live imprisoned in a cage, choosing instead to forge her own legend: shocking, monstrous, and gloriously free.”

The cast includes Ella Beatty, Vicky Krieps, Charlie Hunnam, Rebecca Hall, Jessica Barden, Sarah Paulson, and Billie Lourd. Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story will premiere on Netflix on September 17. You can watch the teaser trailer below.
