Famous hillbilly endorses Bobby Jindal
Last week appeared to show the world that the United States is ready to make progress, but don’t you worry—the heart of the real America is still beating strong. In an announcement that should surprise no one, Duck Dynasty stars Jep and Jessica Robertson have come out in support of Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal in his bid for the U.S. presidency.
Duck Dynasty, which despite declining ratings is still one of A&E’s top shows, is a reality program about a family of yuppies who pretend to be hillbillies in order to sell duck calls to the great unwashed. Were you wondering what the Robertsons’ thoughts on the clown car that is the Republican primary are? Sure, we all are! Luckily, we needn’t wait any longer, as Variety reports that Jep was using his words quite well with celebrity news site Fox411:
“I would definitely vote for him. He’s a very, very good man,” Jep said in a statement as calculated as his beard. “We’ve gotten to chat with him several times, kind of just talking. He’s a great dude…he’s very transparent, has a great family, so yeah, I’d definitely give him my vote.”
As with most things in Louisiana, the support for Jindal is a family affair, as Jep’s brother Willie came out for Bobby in May. According to Variety, Jindal was one of the many prominent Republicans who lent his support to Phil Robertson, the patriarch of the family, when he shared his educated, well thought-out views on homosexuals and minorities in GQ in 2013. Jindal also made a cameo appearance on the A&E show’s season premiere last year.
And in case any young liberal voters who may want to laugh off Jep’s common sense real talk because he used the word “dude” to describe a potential world leader, remember that the original draft of the U.S. Constitution actually began, “We the Dudes of the United States, in order to form a more perfect Confederacy, establish state’s rights, no restrictions on automatic weapons, and not let the homos get married, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of Wal-Mart.”
The new season of Duck Dynasty began on June 24th.
