Before anyone gets too worried: Francis Ford Coppola is fine. Earlier today, The Mirror reported that the 86-year-old auteur entered a hospital in Rome for scheduled heart surgery. Before the procedure, doctors found a mild cardiac arrhythmia (or irregular heartbeat) and placed him under observation. He is reportedly resting under the care of his longtime doctor, who has been treating him for over 30 years, per The Hollywood Reporter.

Ever the showman, Coppola wrapped a six-city roadshow tour of Megalopolis on Friday in San Francisco. But for the last month or so, Coppola has been bouncing between stateside Megalopolis screenings and location scouting in Calabria, Italy, for a “new film that will focus on all things Calabria,Well, all things Calabria, except for the one thing that would interest general audiences. “Calabria is a region very famous for its mafia, but that doesn’t interest me,” he reportedly told Calabria News 24 (as translated by Firefox). “My film instead will focus solely on the beautiful things about this region.” Earlier this month, he joined a screening of Megalopolis in Calabria before returning to America and then doubling back to Italy for the procedure. We don’t know if that’s good for his heart, but the man remains committed to his grindset, and we must respect that.
