Get Involved, Internet: Bob Mould kickstarts a concert film
Last November, Bob Mould enjoyed the sort of tribute most artists only get after kicking the bucket: a star-studded concert in L.A.’s Walt Disney Concert Hall, featuring Dave Grohl, Britt Daniel, Ryan Adams, Craig Finn, Margaret Cho (?), and others to celebrate the singer-songwriter’s nearly four-decade career.
The whole event was filmed, and now Mould has launched a Kickstarter to raise $95,000 to release it. Like all good Kickstarter projects, this one has a variety of rewards for different spending levels, from a “digital hug” for $1 to a $1,500 package that includes a DVD of the film, personalized thank-you note, and a signed guitar (Fender Stratocaster, naturally) from Mould. Another includes a limited-edition 7-inch featuring two live tracks from the Disney show. And one includes tickets to any Mould show, or, for $5, three unreleased live songs from the first Copper Blue concert in February of this year.
The Kickstarter expires on December 22 and has already raised about $20,000.
