Gillian Anderson wrote a novel about a rational woman investigating a supernatural mystery

In news that some people will choose to interpret as more proof that the two of them should just admit that they’re perfect for each other, The X-Files’ David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson are both writers now. That might not seem like a big deal, but it’s still something that they can talk about over breakfast in the morning and shut up we need this. We first told you about Duchovny’s book—which is apparently an Animal Farm-esque fable about a wise-cracking cow who brings peace to Israel and Palestine—back in July, and now the Los Angeles Times is reporting that Anderson’s first book will be in stores this October.

Titled A Vision Of Fire, the book focuses on “renowned child psychologist Caitlin O’Hara,” a woman who gets hired to treat the daughter of India’s ambassador to the United Nations after she starts speaking in tongues. In true Dana Scully fashion, O’Hara initially believes that the strange behavior is a perfectly reasonable reaction to someone attempting to assassinate the girl’s father, but then other kids around the world start drowning on dry land and setting themselves on fire. At that point, she “is forced to consider a more sinister force at work.” It all sounds a bit like The Happening, but we’ll give Anderson the benefit of the doubt and keep that feeling to ourselves.
