Now, it sounds like Tierney and his team are feeling unwilling to be caught flat-footed again, with a new report from Deadline suggesting that the show’s current production push isn’t just about finally getting a second season to fans before they combust, but also about banking a third one, plus a movie, in order to keep the hordes at bay. This is all lodged in the nebulous realm of “sources said”—the show hasn’t even been officially renewed for a third season, it’s worth pointing out—but the report claims there have been some indicators that, although Tierney has said the show’s second season will only be six episodes, he and his crew are currently working on twelve. (Among other things, Deadline notes a leaked Cameo from series co-star Dylan Walsh back in August, where he told fans he believed they’d be making “twelve episodes” with their current run—followed by Walsh stepping away from making Cameos because “a video went viral that got me in trouble.”)
As for the movie—and this is in equally grain-of-salt-required territory, mind you—it’s supposedly being filmed this December, after the current production run, whatever length it winds up being, is done. Notably, the film is being described as not featuring series stars Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie, who play the show’s central couple; as Deadline notes, Rachel Reid’s numerous Game Changers books contain a number of other couples for the franchise to focus in on, with a suggestion that it might be a holiday-themed film focused on François Arnaud’s Scott and Robbie G.K.’s Kip from the show’s first season.
Meanwhile, fans who still just can’t wait are in luck; the series was recently announced to be getting a re-run of its first season in theaters, the better to stoke those good, old-fashioned yearning feelings for the second season’s arrival.
