Here’s what’s coming to HBO Now this April
Realizing that there’s still, like, a month between now and the April 24 premiere of the new season of Game Of Thrones—and thus hundreds of hours for bloodthirsty fans to fill before they can be soothed by yet another murderous lullaby of violence, tits, and dragons—HBO has released the list of stuff that’ll be coming to its Now service in April in an effort to keep the wolves at bay.
Those desperate for at least a hint of nastiness or nudity (albeit sans flowery accompanying exposition) will be able to turn to that old standby, the unrated version of a hit movie. In this case, they can feast their lascivious minds on last year’s Amy Schumer comedy Trainwreck, which arrives on the 2nd. Meanwhile, those more serious about their debauchery can tune in to Confirmation, the Kerry Washington-starring tale of Anita Hill and the Clarence Thomas confirmation scandal. That’ll go live on April 16, with The Wire’s Wendell Pierce playing the allegedly Coke-can-defiling Supreme Court justice.
The network is also offering up the box office-smashing Jurassic World, although Chris Pratt and his motorcycle-racing raptors won’t arrive on the service until the 23rd. Given that that’s literally a day before not just Game Of Thrones, but also Veep and Silicon Valley, arrive, it might already be too late: The howling hordes will already have been unleashed, and only HBO’s signature cocktail of political comedy, violent grandeur, and Stephen Tobolowsky will be able to quench their wrath.
