Hulu picks up drama series about the creation of the Wu-Tang Clan
According to Variety, Hulu has given a straight-to-series order to Wu-Tang: An American Saga, a 10-episode drama about how a guy living in ‘90s New York named Bobby Diggs became RZA and formed the iconic Wu-Tang Clan rap group. The series will be written by both RZA and Alex Tse, the writer behind the recent SuperFly remake, with Method Man executive producing and Ghostface Killa, Inspectah Deck, Masta Killa, GZA, and the estate of Ol’ Dirty Bastard on board as consulting producers. So, this is essentially (most of) the Wu-Tang Clan telling its origin story, and while there’s nothing in the Variety report to suggest this won’t be a straight, Straight Outta Compton-style approach, we have to assume the Wu-Tang guys will want to insert some of the kung-fu-inspired flair they’re known for. Honestly, we can’t imagine that anyone would object to just making this a karate show.
