Iliza Shlesinger’s getting her own late-night talk show on Freeform
Iliza Shlesinger might be getting a late-night talk show courtesy of the network that brings you Pretty Little Liars, Variety reports. Details on the structure of the Freeform project are sparse—it will reportedly tackle “what’s happening in the moment”—but naturally, it would add another female voice to the still very male landscape. Asked by Variety to describe her approach, Shlesinger said: “I’m a woman, so that automatically sets it apart from almost every other late night show [laughs]. I have the comedic chops and intelligence to raise points and discuss both sides of whatever is on our mind as a society. Basically? I’m really good at saying what other people are thinking and making it relatable.”
Meanwhile, the network once known as ABC Family is developing a whole host of shows, including another late night enterprise called Later Bitches, a Misfits remake, and a series from The Lonely Island. The announcement comes just as Shlesinger’s new special, Confirmed Kills, debuts on Netflix. In a review, The A.V. Club wrote that it “has several hilarious isolated moments, but the macro structure of Shlesinger’s joke-telling wavers.”
