Interpol celebrates Turn On The Bright Lights’ 15th anniversary with a European tour
2017 is a year full of anniversaries for Interpol. It’s the 20-year anniversary of the band’s formation, as well as the 15th anniversary of its debut album, Turn On The Bright Lights. Released in 2002, the record would bring a rush of attention to the young band, as its moody post-punk became synonymous with a specific brand of New York cool. Since then, the band has released four more albums and weathered lineup changes, but it’s kept going and is already at work on a new album that’s expected in 2018.
But Interpol is putting that on hold to celebrate its debut album’s anniversary, as it announced that this summer it’ll be touring Europe and playing the record front to back. Tickets go on sale this Friday, and while the tour is exclusive to Europe, maybe if we ask real nice they’ll bring this thing stateside.
