It's a red letter day: The Get Up Kids are back with a new single and tour
In the same year that we got a new Dashboard Confessional album, The Get Up Kid have just announced a new EP and tour. Their Moog-accented single “Maybe,” off the upcoming Kicker (on Polyvinyl), is their first new song in 7 years. It represents a return to earnest, yearning form for Matt Pryor and the boys—er, men—who have been touring since the release of 2011's There Are Rules.
The new EP, which is due out June 8, is tinged with nostalgia, of course—guitarist Jim Suptic says they’ve been looking back “in rose-colored glasses” at their days as struggling band. But Kicker’s four tracks are very much told from the perspective of their family-raising, fortysomething selves. You can preorder the EP here ahead of the band’s full-length tour, which kicks off June 14 in Dallas.
