The 2018 TV bloodbath continues today, as NBC announces that it’s pulling the plug on Tracey Wigfield’s news-based workplace sitcom Great News. The series—which was co-executive produced by Tina Fey, who joined the cast in a supporting role for the show’s second season—starred Andrea Martin and Briga Heelan as a mother-daughter team working for a local news broadcast.
Great News—which was gifted with both a top-tier comedy cast, including Horatio Sanz and John Michael Higgins, and a pleasantly weird comic sensibility—is just one of a handful of shows NBC has killed off today, as it and other networks prepare for their annual upfront presentations. The network also dropped its Neeson-adjacent action adaptation Taken, as well as its brand-new military drama The Brave.
