It's time for the speculation about Christopher Nolan directing a James Bond film to begin again

With Sam Mendes taking a step away from the James Bond franchise to concentrate on exploding legitimate theaters, talk has turned to who will direct the follow-up to Skyfall, and withstand the preemptive criticism for not being Christopher Nolan that’s become standard ever since Nolan expressed his enthusiasm for the franchise. So naturally, producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson have reportedly approached Christopher Nolan—whom many believe to be the only man who is Christopher Nolan—to see if he’s interested in being Christopher Nolan while directing the 24th James Bond film. It’s a logical move, albeit one posited solely by The Daily Mail, Britain's No. 1 source for photos of celebrities "showing off their curves" at the grocery store and news of moose invading swimming pools.

Still, reporter Baz Bamigboye has proven to be a reliable Bond source in the past (when he isn’t playing maracas for the Happy Mondays), and it seems reasonable to believe Nolan would be approached, given that he’s said he’d like to take on a Bond film someday and the fact that he’s Christopher Nolan. Of course, Nolan is already plenty busy with Interstellar, meaning he likely wouldn’t be available until late next year, and may not want to rush right into another blockbuster when he’s done. Still, “It does no harm for Broccoli and Wilson to talk with Nolan, even if nothing happens this time round,” Bamigboye quotes his source as saying, and it certainly does no harm to have a story with “Christopher Nolan” and “James Bond” sharing headline space to keep everyone talking during this downtime.
